Susan Kreitman: Remembering a Legacy

Cooyah Clothing Reggae Clothing Brand Remembering Lost Founder

Our hearts here at Cooyah grow heavier as we have lost one of our own… founder and legacy Susan Krietman.

Are there any words that can truly describe this gem of a human? One thing that I do know is, she would be honored and humbled by all the love from her family and friends that have shown their last respects. It is only a testimony to the lives that she personally touched during her time with us.

She brought a magic into this world that has touched so many people - our words cannot express the grief that we feel for her loss.

Susan found so much pride in her accomplishments from her hand knitted couture to the entire clothing brand that she helped run with her best friend and partner. Her intelligence, style, and love for fashion helped bring her a successful career that connected her to the people and things she loved the most.

Susan was known for her bold and bright charisma that could always light up a room. And this vibrancy that followed her touched not only everyone that came into contact with her but it was also shown in her work. After 36 years in business with her partner and life long friend, Homer Bair she has shown how a little bit of love, sweat, and a pop of color can change lives.

In 1987 Homer and Susan founded Cooyah, a reggae lifestyle clothing brand that brought bold and creative designs with a rebellious flare. Their clothing has spoken and inspired generations all over the world, all with the help of a no-nonsense gal from New York City.

The presence that Susan left at Cooyah will forever be remembered through her bright color and designs that mirrored her loud, bold, and beautiful nature. The burst of color that her personality left behind will be profoundly missed.

Just know Susan, that you were loved and honored during your time with us. Your legacy, spirit, and energy will forever shine through the Cooyah brand.
